One-Percent Sales and Use Tax on the Ballot
Residents, who are eligible and registered to vote, can decide on the 2027 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). Early voting ends on Fri., Oct. 31, 2025, and the general election is Tues., Nov. 4, 2025. On August 8, 2025, Clayton County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2025-163 to reimpose a one-percent SPLOST to fund capital projects. The Board also approved Resolution 2025-164, which allows the County to enter into an agreement with Clayton County cities about the distribution of SPLOST funds.
“The County has completed numerous community enhancements, quality of life, public safety, technology, and transportation projects, which were funded by SPLOST,” said Chief Operating Officer Detrick Stanford.
The proposed 2027 SPLOST is estimated to raise $412,791,335. Residents can access the Elections and Registration website to view a sample ballot, www.claytoncountyga.gov/government/elections-and-registration/.

Board Approves 2027 SPLOST Reimposition
In a special-called meeting held on Aug. 8, 2025, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2025-163 for reimposition of a one percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to fund capital projects. Resolution 2025163 Exhibit A is attached for reference. Clayton County residents can vote on the 2027 SPLOST on Tues., Nov. 4, 2025.
