A Commitment to the Future of Firefighter Health & Wellness
A cornerstone of the new Fire Headquarters is the department’s state-of-the-art, 9-bed Health & Wellness Clinic, designed specifically to support the physical and mental well-being of the men and women who serve Clayton County.
This clinic represents a forward-thinking approach to firefighter health—focusing not only on annual medical screenings, but on prevention, and long-term wellness all aimed at reducing line-of-duty injuries and long-term health risks.
This moment carries even greater significance as the opening of this clinic aligns with National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, serving as a powerful reminder of why firefighter health and wellness must remain a top priority.
Each year, we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice – many of whom were lost not only in emergency incidents, but also the long-term physical and occupational impacts of the job. The opening of this clinic stands as a commitment to our firefighters that we will do everything possible to protect their health, extend their careers, and ensure they return home safely to their families.
“This is more than a clinic—it’s a commitment,” said Fire Chief and EMS Director Tim Sweat. “We are investing in the health of our firefighters so they can continue to serve our community at the highest level. I invite everyone to come see the future of firefighter health and wellness right here at Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services.”
Honoring Tradition While Embracing the Future
The ceremony will include two significant traditions:
- Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony–marking the opening of the new Fire Headquarters.
- Fire Hose Disconnection Ceremony – symbolically placing Fire Station #1 into service.
Instead of a traditional ribbon, the station will be opened by disconnecting three sections of fire hose, each representing one of the department’s operational shifts—A, B, and C. These hose sections have been signed by firefighters, elected officials, and project partners, symbolizing unity and shared commitment. Following the ceremony, the hose will be permanently displayed in the station’s hose tower as a tribute to the department’s legacy.
Built for Service, Designed for the Future
The new Fire Headquarters and Station #1 provide enhanced operational space, modern apparatus accommodations and innovative features that position Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services to meet the growing needs of the community.
“This facility represents more than a building—it represents our promise to the citizens of Clayton County,” Chief Sweat added. “A promise that we will continue to evolve, improve, and deliver the highest level of service possible.”
Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services invites elected officials, community partners, and residents to attend and be part of this historic occasion.
