The Small Business Incubator will provide resources to introduce, connect, support, and expand new businesses in Clayton County to bolster the creation of jobs, investment, and economic development.

January 2024: Four bids were received by the county to design and build the new space. Vendor interviews with Central Services are scheduled for Jan. 26, with recommendations due on Feb. 6.

December 2023: Four bids from general contractors were received on Dec. 7 and Central Services is currently evaluating the proposals. The project consists of demolishing the current facility and building an 18,785-square-foot, one story building.

November 2023: Bids from contractors were received on Nov. 16, 2023. The bids will be opened by the county on Dec. 7, 2023, and the evaluation process will begin to select a contractor.

October 2023: A request for design and build bids for the Small Business Incubator has been published nationally. The deadline for businesses to submit a bid is Nov. 16, 2023.

September 2023: The search for a general contractor to oversee the redesign is scheduled to begin in October.

August 2023: County staff is completing the list of tasks to be performed by contractors. Once complete, the county will request project bids from general contractors.

July 2023: Clayton County is now the owner of the former Social Security building in Morrow. The facility will be renovated to serve as the new Small Business Incubator.

June 2023: Purchase negotiations continue between county officials and the property owner.

May 2023: The county is proposing to purchase a parcel of land with an existing building to establish the small business incubator.
