The relocation of Fire Station #9 represents another significant investment in Clayton County’s public safety infrastructure, providing firefighters with a modern facility designed to enhance operational readiness while improving emergency response capabilities for the citizens and visitors served throughout the district.

“This new station represents much more than bricks and mortar,” said Fire Chief and EMS Director Tim Sweat. “It represents our continued commitment to providing exceptional fire and emergency medical services while ensuring our firefighters have the facilities, equipment, and resources necessary to safely and effectively serve our community.”

As part of the ceremony, Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services will continue one of its newest traditions with a Fire Hose Disconnection Ceremony. In addition to cutting a ceremonial ribbon, three connected sections of fire hose—representing the department’s A, B, and C operational shifts—will be disconnected to symbolically place Fire Station #9 into service. Prior to the ceremony, the hose sections will be signed by elected officials, firefighters, community partners, and project stakeholders, serving as a lasting reminder of the collaboration and commitment that made the new station possible.

Following the ceremony, the signed hose will be permanently displayed within Fire Station #9 as a tribute to the department’s history, traditions, and the dedicated men and women who serve Clayton County each day. The new Fire Station #9 has been designed to support the growing needs of the community while enhancing firefighter safety, operational efficiency, and emergency response capabilities for years to come.

Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services invites members of the Board of Commissioners, elected officials, community partners, neighboring public safety agencies, residents, and members of the media to attend this historic event as the department celebrates another milestone in its mission to provide innovative emergency response, mitigation, and education with compassion and professionalism to create a safe place to live, work, and play.
